BRINGING DELICIOUS MIDDLE-EASTERN FLAVOURS TO LONDON

WHO WE ARE

(meaning cauliflower in Arabic) came from a desire to bring Syrian culture and food to London.

Set up by Mouna after a career in human rights, it is not only about discovering the wide variety of delicious flavours in Syrian and Middle Eastern cuisine. It’s also about breaking boundaries and stereotypes, and bringing people together around a table of good food.

Our recipes come from Aleppo and other Syrian cities, and reflect the beautiful multiculturalism of food by highlighting the influences from different communities and surrounding countries, as well as our fusion dishes showcasing delicious traditional flavours with a twist.

WHAT WE DO

We serve Syrian and Middle Eastern street food with a distinct focus on quality. Our food is about sharing our heritage and culture through a celebration of delicious flavours using much loved family recipes.

We source our ingredients with care: the meat is free range, the produce is sustainable and locally sourced when possible and the packaging is eco friendly.

In Syria we have a saying that “the eye eats before the stomach.” That’s why we make sure all our dishes are a feast for the eye - they’re bold, beautiful and inviting!

OUR MISSION

High quality, new food experience: discovery of Syrian and Middle Eastern flavours that are NOT the regular falafel or kebab sandwich.

Building community solidarity and countering negative views of refugees and of Syria. Directly helping refugees through employment, mentorship, raising funds and raising awareness.

Growing a well-loved and sustainable business based on passion and cooking from the heart using much loved family recipes that have been passed down for generations.

THE ROAD SO FAR

Since we set up our catering company Mouna’s Kitchen in 2018 we have catered for many private and business events ranging from small private dinners, to large weddings and corporate events.

We expanded into street food in 2019 with                       and were proud to join KERB shortly after.

During lockdown we switched to high end home delivery and were able to trial 100+ recipes. It also allowed us to employ four refugees and continue with our social mission.

Winner of the female food founder award, we opened a permanent stall at Mercato Metropolitano in Elephant and Castle in 2021 where for 2 years, we have been able to further refine our street food menu and engage with our customers on a daily basis.

In 2023 we opened a new stall in KERB’s Seven Dials Market on the ground floor, rounding up our offering and delighting our customers with even more flavours.
